Biografia. Adel Orso è nato in Algeria 1976 e ha trascorso linfanzia e ladolescenza a Parigi. Durante gli studi in Letteratura Moderna alla Sorbona, si dedica al cinema lavorando sul set di numerosi film amatoriali. Lincontro con il regista americano Joseph Rezwin, vecchio assistente di John Cassavetes, è il primo passo verso il lavoro professionale nel mondo del cinema. È il co-sceneggiatore di Killing Time, il lungometraggio di debutto di Rezwin, girato a Parigi nella primavera del 1998, in cui Adel è anche attore. Nel 1999, Orso si trasferisce a New York dove lavora per alcuni mesi al dipartimento di cinema e televisione dellambasciata francese a Manhattan. In seguito frequenta il corso di regia alla Columbia University dove inizia il suo lavoro di sceneggiatore e regista. Sono di questo periodo i tre cortometraggi: Nina, Freddys Dead e 2 Songs. Da allora, Orso fa la spola tra Parigi e New York, ed è stato coinvolto nella scrittura di sceneggiature sia per cortometraggi che per lungometraggi, tra cui Une Femme, del regista e sceneggiatore francese Béryl Peillard, attualmente in fase di lavorazione in Francia. Orso sta preparando un progetto di documentario in Algeria e sta concludendo la sceneggiatura di Sleepwalker, il suo primo lungometraggio.
Biography. Adel Orso was born in Algeria in 1976 and spent his childhood and teenage years in Paris. While studying modern literature at the Sorbonne in Paris, he worked on many amateur films. An encounter with Paris-based American director Joseph Rezwin, former assistant to John Cassavetes, was the first step towards professional work in film. Orso cowrote and acted in Rezwins feature debut, Killing Time, shot in Paris in the spring of 1998. In 1999, Orso moved to New York where he worked for a few months at the film and television department of the French Embassy in Manhattan. He then attended the film school at Columbia University, where he began working as a screenwriter and director. Three short films came out of this period: Nina, Freddys Dead and his latest one 2 Songs.
Since then, Orso has been travelling back and forth between Paris and New York and has been involved in the writing of a number of short and feature films, including Une Femme, from French director and screenwriter Béryl Peillard, now being made in France.
Orso is currently working on a documentary project in Algeria and finishing the script for Sleepwalker, his first feature project.
