Great. But short. Corto in Bra has put together a collection of shorts with a pedigree (award winners, festival selections) for a preview with mainstream appeal, presenting the festival’s subject – the short film genre – to those who might not be familiar with it. The films will be shown free on Wednesday June 24, at a location outside the town center.
With the collaboration of Cinema Migrante, we’ll set up an open-air cinema in the Bescurone neighborhood the day before the official inauguration, giving even those who live far from the town center, where the festival is usually found, the opportunity to enjoy an evening of alternative film. If Mohammed won’t come to the mountain…
After all, the founding mission of Corto in Bra, its raison d’être since 1996, has been to offer another kind of cinema, the kind not found in the multiplex or on TV, to people who normally would not have access to it, like those living in and around Bra.
The movie theaters of Bra were closed in 1996, and Corto in Bra started small, organizing screenings inside the town’s Auditorium. Thirteen years have passed since that inaugural edition, but the festival’s spirit remains the same, and so we have decided to hold this mini-review of short films with big appeal, to break down barriers and bring together a diverse range of film-goers.
