Screenwriting Workshop

Corto in Bra’s support and promotion of screenplays continues. While the well-established City of Bra Prize for best original script is still a biennial event and will return in 2010, the 2009 Corto in Bra Summer Edition will feature an important innovation: a resident screenwriting workshop aimed at developing short film projects.
The 15 selected participants will be hosted in Bra during the festival so that they can develop their scripts with the help of Francesco Cenni. A young screenwriter with a degree from the Centro Sperimentale, the Italian national film school, in just a few years he has worked on many films, including L’ultimo crodino (The Last Crodino) by Umberto Spinazzola, Uno su due (One Out of Two) by Eugenio Cappuccio and 4-4-2 Il gioco più bello del mondo (4-4-2 The Most Beautiful Game in the World). For television, he has written Raccontami, Estate torbida, Piper and Il commissario De Luca.
The workshop will be held over four days, and after a brief introduction, participants will proceed to revise each other’s work. Having been asked in advance to read their classmate’s projects, they will begin an active collaborative process of brainstorming. Says Cenni: “The concept that I want to pass on is that film is an art based on collaboration.” A work session will be dedicated to each participant’s project, so everyone will have the chance to revise their script based on valuable input from the others.
The workshop will also feature surprise interventions from other professionals in the sector, guests of the festival, who will meet with the group to reveal their own working methods.
