Regulations 2010

1) Aims


Cinema Corto in Bra intends to promote the short film as an original expressive form, to encourage youth production and to acquaint local audiences with the various experiences of international directors and Italian screenwriters who are putting themselves to the test with the short form.

3) International Short Cinema

International fictional, documentary and animated shorts on a subject of choice.

3. 1 – Conditions for Participation
Entries must be fictional, animated and documentary shorts (30 minutes max.) produced after 1 January 2009, in film and/or video format, subtitled in English or Italian.

3. 2 – Awards and Juries
A jury of professionals from the international world of cinema will assign the La Zizzola Award of 3,500 Euros to the best short film.

4) Short Cinema in Italy

Italian fictional, documentary and animated film shorts on a subject of choice.

4. 1 – Conditions for Participation
Accepted in the competition are fictional, animated and documentary shorts (30 minutes max.) produced after 1 January 2009, in film and/or video format, subtitled in English or Italian.

4. 2 – Awards and Juries
A jury presided over by an Italian director and made up of professionals from the world of cinema will assign the La Zizzola Award of 2,000 Euros to the best short film.


5) Deadlines and Methods for Sending Films for Pre-selection

The films must be sent as DVD copies subtitled in English or Italian (if the soundtrack is not in one these languages) no later than 25 April 2010 (postmark date will be binding). The material sent for the selection will not be returned. The following must be included: a photograph of the director, three photographs of scenes from the film, the complete dialogue list in English or Italian. The entry form is completed on line at www.cortoinbra.it and automatically sent: there will immediately follow a confirmation and the allocation of a registration number to identify the film.

The DVDs of the films must be sent by regular or first-class mail or by courier (specifying “no commercial value, for cultural purposes only”) to the following address:

The selection is the exclusive and unquestionable competence of the artistic direction of the Festival. Only those applications that have been made out correctly and that have been completed with all the additional material requested will be accepted.

6) Deadlines and Methods for Sending the Selected Films

The copies of the films selected must be received by and no later than 10 June 2010 at the following address:

Mailing costs are at the sender’s expense. Cinema Corto in Bra will pay the transport charges for returning the copies. The following formats are accepted: 35mm, BetaSP (PAL), Digibeta (PAL), DVCam and MiniDV (PAL). You must state that the package has “no commercial value, for cultural purposes only”.

Films and videos from Italy and other E.E.C. countries should be sent by courier or by express delivery. Copies from countries not belonging to the European Community, by air mail only under the customs system of temporary importation. Each package from outside the EEC must include a pro-forma invoice, a list of the items, the proper travel documents (indicating number of reels, length of the film in meters, title and number of video cassettes of each film). It is important that the pro-forma invoice specifies that the package does not contain pornographic material. At the same time, the sender must also send the Festival Secretariat a notice of dispatch by fax that shows the title of the film, number of reels, date and details of the mailing (AWB number) and “all risk” insurance policy (inclusive of loss or theft of the copy).
