Sinossi. La sedicenne Cecilia ha una protesi a una mano. Mariana, la cugina di quattro anni viene a vivere nella casa dei suoi genitori. Laffetto della madre si concentra su Mariana. Cecilia, gelosa, sogna un amore tragico che non le ridarà laffetto della madre.
Synopsis. Cecília is 16 and has a prosthetic hand. Mariana, her four-year-old cousin, moves into her parents house and soon becomes the focus of her mothers affections. Cecília, jealous, dreams of a tragic love. But it will not bring back her mothers love.

Biografia. Alberto Seixas Santos è nato a Lisbona il 20 marzo 1936. Ha studiato Storia e Filosofia allUniversità di Lisbona. Ha vissuto a Parigi nel 1962 e nel 1963 a Londra dove ha studiato alla Scuola di Tecnica Cinematografica. Tra 1958 e il 1970 ha collaborato come critico cinematografico con molti giornali e riviste portoghesi. Con Brandos Costumes, il suo primo lungometraggio, ha partecipato alla Berlinale nel 1975. Nel 1977 è stato nominato Presidente dellIstituto Portoghese per il Cinema. Tra il 1980 e il 2002 ha insegnato alla Scuola Superiore di Teatro e Cinema. Nel 1982, il suo lungometraggio Gestos e Fragmentos ha partecipato al Festival del Cinema di Venezia. Nel 1985 è stato nominato direttore della TV pubblica portoghese (RTP).
Biography. Born in Lisbon on March 20, 1936, Alberto Seixas Santos studied history and philosophy at the University of Lisbon. He lived in Paris in 1962 and in 63 moved to London and studied at the London School of Film Technique. Between 1958 and 1970 he worked as a film critic for several Portuguese newspapers and magazines. His first feature, Brandos Costumes, was screened at the 1975 Berlinale. In 1977 he was appointed President of the Portuguese Institute for Cinema. Between 1980 and 2002, he taught at Lisbons Theatre and Film School (ESTC). In 1982 his feature film Gestos e Fragmentos participated in the Venice Film Festival. He was appointed Director of Programmes for the Portuguese public television network RTP in 1985.
